Discover Kythira<\/h2>\n\n

The villages in Kythira retain many authentic elements and most of them are now complete aesthetic ensembles that immediately fascinate the visitor. In Kythira, the orchards are still blooming, the courtyards of the houses exude the aromas of colorful pots and if you are lucky, the smell of the wood-fired oven baking rusks in oil will make you discover them.<\/p>\n\n

We begin our tour of the tourist routes, from the southernmost part of the island in the capital Chora<\/strong> with its narrow picturesque streets, white houses with beautiful enclosed courtyards, century-old mansions, and with the imposing Venetian castle dominating three seas. At the foot of Chora, built in a natural bay that forms an omega, is the picturesque Kapsali<\/strong> with a magnificent view of the Cretan Sea, the rocky islet of Hytra and cosmopolitan life.<\/p>\n\n

In the center west of the island, built between valleys with running water and plane trees, is the village of Mylopotamos<\/strong>. From the central square of the village, springs gush forth, the waters of which pass through the Myloi area with its traditional watermills. Kato Chora<\/strong> is a settlement of Mylopotamos, it is a listed building and is considered a model of architectural street planning, it has centuries-old houses and there is the Venetian castle of Kato Chora with its wonderful sunset.<\/p>\n\n

Continuing centrally on the island on the main road there is the village of Aroniadika<\/strong> with picturesque alleys and interesting architecture that is a mixture of influences from the Peloponnese and the Aegean style.Further south we find the village of Mitata<\/strong> with a panoramic view of lush vegetation, the village organizes a wine festival every summer.East of Kythira is built by the sea Avlemonas<\/strong>, which stands out for the Cycladic architecture of its houses and the small Venetian castle that exists there. Further north is Potamos<\/strong>, one of the largest villages in Kythira<\/a>, which is also the commercial center of the island. It has architecture influenced by the Peloponnese with many wonderful neoclassical houses. Also, every Sunday in the village square there is a bazaar with local products from Kytherian producers.We continue our journey north where we find the village of Karava<\/strong> with its settlements built amphitheatrically on hills amidst rich vegetation and a valley with running water and plane trees that used to have watermills.
