The website kythirapanorama.gr was not born in an office. It was born in May 2009 here in Kythira, through those moments when a place “grabs” you so deeply that you feel you have to capture it, share it, document it before it changes or is forgotten.
Behind the site is the same creator of kithera.gr — the largest and most complete tourist guide to Kythira, which has been operating continuously since February 2007. A visual artist who has lived almost permanently on the island for years, he knows Kythira in the way that only daily, repeated presence allows: not as a tourist visiting, but as a person who belongs here on the island.
A visual artist sees differently. He does not simply record a landscape — he searches for the light that makes it unique, the angle that reveals something that others overlook, the detail that carries the entire history of a place. This gaze permeates every page of kythirapanorama.gr.

Why was this site created?
Kythira is an island that resists superficial presentation. Most guides — even the good ones to this day — treat the island as just another Greek destination: a few beaches, a castle, amateur photographs, a bit of “authenticity”. This is not enough.
Kythirapanorama.gr was created, as its title explains, to meet the needs that others do not meet in a panoramic way: deeper knowledge of the villages and landscapes, practical information based on real experience, and an aesthetic approach that does justice to the beauty of the island. Particular emphasis is placed on presenting the island through rich photographic material and panoramic photographs, which capture the nature and environment of the island, unaffected by technical obstacles, and anything that interferes with the correct depiction of the natural landscape.
Το kythirapanorama.gr δημιουργήθηκε, όπως εξηγεί και ο τίτλος του, για να καλύψει τις ανάγκες που δεν καλύπτουν άλλοι με τρόπο πανοραμικό: βαθύτερη γνώση των χωριών και των τοπίων, πρακτική πληροφόρηση που βασίζεται σε αληθινή εμπειρία, και μια αισθητική προσέγγιση που αποδίδει δικαιοσύνη στην ομορφιά του νησιού. Δίνεται ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην παρουσίαση του του νησιού μέσα από πλούσιο φωτογραφικό υλικό και πανοραμικές φωτογραφίες, που αποτυπώνουν την φύση και το περιβάλλον του νησιού, ανεπηρέαστα από τεχνικά εμπόδια, και οτιδήποτε παρεμβαίνει στην σωστή αποτύπωση του φυσικού τοπίου.
What makes this site different?
Primary experience. Each location featured has been visited personally — many times, in different times and conditions. There is no copying from other sources or production of content from a distance.
Original visual material. All photos are exclusive — taken on site by the creator, with the aesthetic sensitivity of an artist who knows how to “read” the space before photographing it.
First-hand mapping. The maps used in the network of sites have been created exclusively — they are not variations of existing ones, but original documentation. We have driven all the dirt roads, and we have walked all the hiking trails one by one.
Live, continuous information. The creator lives on the island. This means that the information is not a “photograph” of a place in a certain year — it is living knowledge that is renewed with daily presence.
No ads, no commissions. The content is not influenced by commercial partnerships. Everything that is recommended is recommended because it is worth it — not because it pays.
